RACS GSSE exam dates 2027: sittings, registration and locations

RACS publishes the GSSE sittings and registration windows in advance. Here are the 2027 dates it lists, and how to plan around them.

February 2027 sitting

Exams: 10 and 11 February 2027, online.

Registration opens 10 November 2026 and closes 1 December 2026.

June 2027 sitting

Exams: 9 and 10 June 2027, online.

Registration opens 16 March 2027 and closes 6 April 2027.

The October sitting

RACS also runs an October sitting each year. It is open to prevocational doctors only; SET trainees sit in February or June. Check RACS’s dates and locations page for the 2027 October dates and registration window.

Locations and registration deadlines

RACS lists exam centres in Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Wellington.

Registration closes at 11:59am Melbourne time on the closing date, and RACS states that late registrations are not accepted.

How to use the dates

Work back from the registration closing date, not the exam date. That is when you need to have decided to sit, so it is the real deadline for your preparation plan.

The GSSE is two exams on consecutive days, so plan for both, and weight your remaining weeks towards the domains where you are losing the most marks. Sitting a timed mock paper before you register tells you whether the date you have chosen is realistic.

Where to check the official details

Dates, eligibility and the registration window can change. RACS publishes the current information on its GSSE dates and locations page, and that page is the authority. ClintixPro is independent of RACS and is not endorsed by it.
